State police in Bath arrest an Angelica man on multiple rape charges

The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations at SP Bath received a report of a sexual assault in Steuben County involving two different victims, ages 15 and 19.

After several months of investigation, it was revealed that 34-year-old Roger L. Cobin of Angelica, NY, allegedly had sexual contact with both victims several times over the course of a year.

On September 27, 2024, New York State Police obtained a Steuben County Superior Court arrest warrant for Cobin. The charges listed were two counts: Rape 1 (Offense B), Rape 2 (Offense D), Sexual Abuse 1 (Offense D), Rape 3 (Offense E) and Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Offense).

On October 16, 2024, Cobin was booked at SP Wayland on all charges related to this incident. Cobin was taken to Steuben County Superior Court and arraigned by Mr. Patrick McAllister. Orders of protection were issued for both victims and Cobin was remanded to the Steuben County Jail on a $60,000 cash bond, a $120,000 secured property bond and a $180,000 partially secured bond .
