Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Noon Rotarians from Effingham had a hands-on meeting on October 2nd where they learned to pack shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.

Operation Christmas Child is a program sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse, a global organization that spreads the love of Jesus through the distribution of shoeboxes filled with toys, toiletries, books and literacy materials. The shoeboxes are donated and filled by individuals who want to help meet the needs of children around the world.

Amy Hibdon of First Baptist Church of Effingham leads that church’s Operation Christmas Child. She led the Rotarians in packing the shoeboxes, a task consistent with Rotary’s motto, “Service Above Self.”

This year’s local Operation Christmas Child shoebox collection event will take place November 18-25 at Cornerstone Christian Church in Effingham.
