K-9 Titan assists police in apprehending a barricaded assault suspect

Suspect arrested after Barricade incident

Stafford, VA – A reported attack led to a tense barricade situation Sunday evening that ended with the arrest of a 46-year-old suspect by K-9 Titan.

Deputy EL Shelton responded to a 7-Eleven on Garrisonville Road for an assault report at approximately 10:51 p.m. One victim, who suffered minor injuries, claimed his roommate, Frank Lipka III, attacked him. The victim also reported that Lipka damaged items and brandished a machete during the altercation.

Officers attempted to serve arrest warrants on Lipka at his apartment, but he refused to comply and barricaded himself inside. In the early hours of Monday, the crisis negotiation team attempted to contact him, but negotiations failed. The SWAT team then developed a plan to resolve the situation.

The SWAT team led by Sergeant BU Demirci and K-9 Titan forcibly gained entry to the residence. While attempting to capture Lipka, he attacked Titan but was eventually overpowered. Lipka received medical treatment for a K-9 bite before being charged with several crimes, including injuring a police K-9
