Prince George’s co-teacher has been charged with federal child molestation

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (7News) — The Prince George’s County elementary school teacher accused of seeking inappropriate images of children, including former students, has been federally indicted on multiple charges.

Mark Edward Cobb has been in Prince George’s County custody since county officials charged him in late August with nearly a dozen counts of child sexual abuse and child sexual abuse. However, a federal grand jury indicted the Cooper Lane Elementary School teacher on charges of coercion and enticement of a child and possession of child pornography, according to a statement released Wednesday.

Investigators were alerted to Cobb’s alleged actions on August 25, where they said they found messages from Cobb to a nine-year-old student on Roblox between June 2023 and August 2024 in which he requested and received sexually inappropriate photos.

Following the discovery, Cobb was arrested at his home in Bowie, where officers said they found additional videos and images of children under 12. At the time of the arrest, police said they were working to identify additional possible victims in the area.
