Jones County, Texas – A 78-year-old Merkel woman, identified as Bonnie Kinard, was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Hawley Wednesday morning, according to the Hawley Police Department.

The fatal incident occurred around 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, October, on Highway 277 at FM 605

Hawley police said Kinard was traveling east on Farm-to-Market 605 when she reportedly ran a stop sign and crashed into another vehicle traveling south on Highway 277.

According to police, Kinard suffered multiple broken bones in the incident. She was transported to a hospital where she later died.
The driver of the second car, who was only a middle-aged man, suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle.
