FARGO (KVRR) – A man is hospitalized with serious injuries following a shooting in downtown Fargo Thursday morning.

The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. on the corner of 3rd Avenue North and Broadway in front of Sammy’s Pizza

According to police, the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. The victim was transported by ambulance to Sanford Hospital with serious injuries.

Investigators believe the victim and suspect knew each other and do not believe there is an active threat to the public.

An eyewitness said he saw a white van across the street with someone talking in the passenger seat. Then he heard a gunshot and watched the van drive away. The worker ran over and took off his sweater, covering the victim’s chest wound before telling another person to call 911.

Police are continuing to investigate and had no further information to immediately release.
