Chargers’ Jim Harbaugh describes dietary changes following health issues

Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh is overjoyed after suffering health issues on the sidelines during last week’s win over the Denver Broncos.

But Harbaugh is changing his diet after meeting with doctors.

In a meeting with reporters before the team’s Week 7 game against the Arizona Cardinals, Harbaugh fielded a question about what he might change after the health scare and answered in a way fans have come to expect.

“I’ll probably do some things,” Harbaugh said. “Less Diet Coke, more water, a few other things like that. Tackle the oatmeal in the morning. Do a few things and try to keep up.”

Harbaugh was also only partially sarcastic with this remark. The same goes for another comment in the press in which he said his cardiologist described him as having “the heart of an athlete.”

It’s the same with Harbaugh, who immediately after his trip to the blue medical tent last weekend cracked a “2-0 with cardiac arrhythmia” joke, then got on a plane and was already studying film. His previous updates after the first visit to the cardiologist were also a serious and funny tightrope walk.

As things currently stand, Harbaugh will take medication and wear a heart monitor for two weeks, with ablation still possible if necessary.

Tackle the diet change, too, because Harbaugh approaches it with the same energy he does with football – head-on.
