Predicted lineups, team news and score prediction

While at least one observer expects Erling Haaland to move to Saudi Arabia, Manchester City Mauler still has a lot of work to do in England. His main task this weekend is to ensure that the Citizens put pressure on league leaders Liverpool, who are just a point ahead of City.

The Sky Blues travel to last-placed Wolves for a 9am kick-off on Sunday looking for three points. Just two and a half hours later, Liverpool host fourth-placed Chelsea knowing they cannot afford to drop points.

Unlike seemingly every other team in the Prem, no key player from this City team suffered serious injuries during the last international break. While they continue to be without the services of Kevin De Bruyne, defender Nathan Ake may be close to returning to action after suffering a hamstring injury while playing for the Netherlands in September.

As for Wolves, they are yet to win a Premiership game this season and have conceded 13 goals in their last four games in all competitions. In fact, Wolves have only won two competitive games since March. Things won’t get any easier on Sunday as talented striker Hwang Hee-chan is in doubt after he sustained an ankle injury while playing for South Korea on October 10. In March 2023, he scored the winning goal as Wolves beat Man City 2–1. But now the following 19 months seem like a lifetime ago.

Wolverhampton have not only suffered five defeats in a row, but have also conceded more goals (21) than any other team.

For a team like Man City, goal difference at the end of the season must be the main focus of this game. While they are just a single point behind Liverpool in the standings, they trail the Reds nine to eleven in GD.

Expected Wolverhampton Wanderers line-up: Johnstone, Semedo, Dawson, T. Gomes, Ait Nouri, Andre, Borges, Lemina, J. Gomes, Cunha, Larsen

Expected Manchester City line-up: Ederson, Lewis, Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol, Kovacic, Silva, Foden, Gündogan, Grealish, Haaland

The Citizens have won four of the last five matches. Since losing Rodri to season-ending injury, Man City have picked up just five points in their last three games. But expect them to look after business in the West Midlands. Man City 4-0.

Wolves host Man City on Sunday, October 20 at 9:00 a.m. ET. The game can be watched in the USA.
