New expert prediction that Georgia will flip signing an opposing defensive lineman

It’s the time of recruiting season when programs take their final steps to complete their 2025 recruiting class. According to a recent update to 247Sports’ recruiting rankings, Georgia football has 13 of its 22 commitments ranked in the top 250 and the No. 5 overall class in the country.

Even though these are both very solid numbers, the class is far from finished. Kirby Smart and his staff are still making many moves, and one in particular excites me. This recruit is someone who is currently committed to an SEC rival but was just projected to flip his commitment to Georgia.

Jeremiah McCloud is a three-star defensive back from Leesburg, GA. According to On3’s industry rankings, he is the No. 486 player in the country and also the No. 46 defensive lineman. Rivals, on the other hand, ranks McCloud much higher, ranking him as a four-star player and the No. 229 player in the country.

McCloud has been committed to the Florida Gators since May 2, but it appears he is now leaning toward Georgia.

On3’s Jeremy Johnson made a new official prediction on Wednesday, predicting McCloud will decommit to Georgia. Now I know Johnson isn’t the highest performing player Georgia would have in its recruiting class, but he would still be a huge riser.

Aside from the excitement of flipping a commit from a rival like Flordia, Johnson would be able to provide much-needed depth at a position where it’s needed. We see firsthand how tough it can be without solid depth, so Johnson would initially be able to provide even more of that as he continues to develop under Smart and his staff.

There is no timeline for announcing a commitment yet, and this prediction is by no means a confirmation that he will commit to Georgia. But things seem to be moving in that direction, so let’s hope he joins the Bulldogs class soon.
