Nevada Secretary of State launches text message campaign

The Nevada Secretary of State’s Office is launching a text message campaign to increase access to information about the upcoming general election.

Voters across Nevada will now receive text messages with instructions and reminders on how to vote in the November general election.

Text messages will come from the number 25486 and will be available in English and Spanish, Secretary Francisco Aguilar said.

“It’s about providing voters with clear and accurate information. We want to have the ability to communicate directly with voters so they understand what is happening during the electoral process, but also have the opportunity to address any issues that may arise leading up to Election Day,” Aguilar said.

This number is monitored and also used for quick response communications.

“If a voter has a problem or concern, we can measure the number of responses we receive. If a problem continues to occur, we can begin to address it immediately,” he said.

The information from this number is reliable, Aguilar said.

“We use a five-digit number that is used every time we send a text message from the secretary of state’s office,” he said.
