Mike Perry was arrested on Saturday for drunk driving. A video emerged on Wednesday showing how it went down, featuring some nasty words from the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship star and former UFC veteran.

The video published by TMZ is bodycam footage of the arresting officer. After stopping Perry and asking him if he knew he was speeding, a Lake County (Florida) Sheriff’s Office deputy noticed an odor of alcohol on Perry and asked him to get out of the car.

Perry agrees to pat him down but refuses to take a sobriety test, leading to his arrest. As he is handcuffed and taken into custody, Perry calls his wife Latory to tell her about the situation and repeatedly uses anti-gay slurs to describe the officers arresting him:

“Latory, I’m getting arrested for not taking sobriety tests, so just relax, honey. I’ll be home soon. You know exactly who I am. They’re fucking crazy. Fuck this shit, some shit. They’re a bunch of idiots, forget it.”

In a later moment, as officers search Perry’s vehicle, Perry uses a found receipt to brag about his wealth while continuing to use the slurs:

“Look at the receipt, bastard. Your wife doesn’t have shit that costs that much, shit. How about this, P****. Put that shit on fucking Instagram, damn it. F*** you, F*****. You guys are a couple of idiots. F*** you.

The words met with little response from officials. She is later seen discussing the situation with Latory before driving away in the car.

The arrest occurred at 1:04 a.m. on October 12 in Claremont, Florida. Perry was arrested at 4:36 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence and refusing to sign a citation requiring a court appearance. Both are second degree misdemeanors. He was released at 9:41 a.m. after posting bail totaling $1,500. A court date is scheduled for October 30.

Perry subsequently released a statement of apology on social media on Wednesday afternoon.

I am writing this to deeply apologize for the inappropriate and disrespectful language I used toward members of the Clermont Police Department. I understand that my words were hurtful and offensive, and I sincerely regret my actions.

I recognize the important and often difficult work that police officers do to keep our community safe, and I truly respect the dedication and sacrifice that this work entails. My behavior was inexcusable and I take full responsibility for my actions.

Please note that this incident does not reflect what I really think about it [Police Department/Officers]and I will do my best to ensure this type of behavior never happens again. I hope you can accept my apology as sincere and that I will be more careful and respectful in the future.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

While it would normally be shocking to see a professional athlete use such language, Perry is not your typical professional athlete. Ugly incidents have been more of a feature than a nuisance for him since his time in the UFC. He was caught on video punching a man in a restaurant and using racial slurs. He proclaimed he was allowed to use the slurs because he was 2% black and was accused by his ex-wife of abuse, which included a disturbing 911 call.

Perry denied the abuse allegations and apologized for the incident at the restaurant.

In fighting, Perry has become one of BKFC’s standout fighters after an MMA career in which he went 14-8 (7-8 in the UFC). He was also the last MMA fighter to box against Jake Paul in July, losing by TKO in the sixth round.
