“I am heartbroken. I am literally at a loss for words knowing what this woman meant to me at such a pivotal point in my life. She was the only person who believed in me. The one who trusted me. Many don’t even know what it’s like to be a black woman in sports when no one believes in you,” Reese wrote.

Reese then pointed out that the reason she landed on the Sky was because of Weatherspoon, 58.

“You had a hard job. All the crazy circumstances we’ve been through this year and when your back was against the wall, you always believed. I came to Chicago because of YOU. You were an unsung hero in my life. “We have built a relationship in a short period of time that will last forever,” she continued.

Reese ended her post by adding, “You were the best reason and the best season. You don’t deserve this, but I can’t thank you enough. I love you, Tspoon.”

On Friday September 27, the Sky franchise confirmed that it had sacked Weatherspoon, who had held the role of head coach since October 2023.
