Joel Kinnaman’s Debriefing The President series increases sales

EXCLUSIVE: Presidential debriefingthe series, based on John Nixon’s insightful book of the same name, was sold to a number of countries. In the limited series, Joel Kinnaman plays CIA analyst Nixon, who was the first American to positively identify and interrogate Saddam Hussein after the ill-fated invasion of Iraq.

The series was acquired by Canadian streamer Crave. It was also very well received in Scandinavia; NRK has secured the rights for Norway, SVT for Sweden, YLE for Finland and DR for Denmark, securing a quartet of deals with major pubcasters.

Deadline announced earlier this year that the drama would air on TNT in the US. The production comes from AR Content and StoryFirst. Oscar nominee Alexander Rodnyansky (Leviathan) and Leslie Greif (Hatfields & McCoys) are producers alongside Stuart Manahil, Michael Kupisk, Peter Gerwe, Shelley Browning and the series star Kinnaman. Directed by Krzysztof Skonieczny.

Presidential debriefing is a show that not only entertains global audiences, but could also provide answers to the most debated issues in the world today,” said AR Content’s Rodnyansky. “It is both a nuanced drama about two people with very different cultural backgrounds and experiences, and a gripping thriller that is sure to captivate viewers.”

Anthony Appell of Escapade Media, a comprehensive distribution company, closed the above sales, with more to come. Presidential debriefing is one of Deadline’s “Hot Ones” dramas to look out for at MIPCOM, and the pre-market deals give the show momentum ahead of its trip to Cannes.

Natalie Lawley, managing director of Escapade Media, said: “This is a gripping drama that reveals the intimate story of two men at the heart of one of the 21st The most defining conflicts of the century that would lead to significant consequences around the world.”
