Police raid Atlanta mansion to evict squatters possibly linked to anti-government group: Video

Authorities armed with rifles broke into a sprawling north Atlanta mansion to evict squatters who may have been linked to the Sovereign Citizens movement, heartbreaking footage shows.

The Fulton County Marshal’s Department searched the gated, 15,000-square-foot home after being alerted to “unauthorized occupants” living in the neighborhood.

The video shows marshals with police shields and long guns combing the luxurious mansion with several Greek columns inside. According to the recordings, authorities checked various rooms in the house.

At one point, a police officer is seen talking to a woman outside; It is unclear who she was.

The ministry said it took extra precautions as officials received tips that the squatters could identify with the sovereign citizens of the anti-government movement.

During the raid, authorities also used a drone to survey the massive property and locate any tenants, marshals said.

Squatting is an ongoing problem in the Peach State, particularly in Atlanta.

“While property owners have the right to evict squatters, they must follow legal procedures,” the marshal’s department said.

Further information about the search of the property by authorities was not immediately available.
