Two dead in traffic accident

Hoshiarpur: Two people were killed and a woman and her two children were injured in a road accident on Tuesday on the Hoshiarpur-Chandigarh road. Navjot Kaur, wife of Paramjit Singh, a resident of Rahon Road, Ludhiana, told police that she was going to Anandpur Sahib along with her husband and two children in a car. Satnam Singh was also with them. She told police that when they reached near Adda Handowal, a truck hit the autorickshaw. Her husband and Satnam Singh were crushed under the truck while she and her two children were injured. Police have registered a case against the accused driver Pawan Kumar from Kathua.

Two were charged with fraud

Hoshiarpur: Police have charged two people with fraud on the pretext of sending a person abroad. Deepak Sharma, a resident of the local Maharaj Ranjit Singh Nagar mohalla, told police that he and Manish Verma had been promised that they would be sent to New Zealand. On this pretext, the accused travel agent Jagveer Singh, a resident of Phagwara, and Aniket Anand, a resident of Chaura Bazar, Ludhiana, allegedly cheated him of Rs 2.10 lakh. After the case was opened, the police initiated further proceedings.
