‘The View’ cancels Halloween episode amid presidential election

With the 2024 presidential election less than a month away, the women of The view hardly have anything else on their minds.

On Tuesday’s episode of the ABC Roundtable Show Behind the table podcast, producer Brian Teta announced to co-host Joy Behar that there will be no Halloween episode for the first time in 28 years.

“I’m going to announce something today that will upset some of the audience, but I think it will make you happy,” he told Behar. “Since there are only a few days until the election and we have to be there live, the presenters will not be dressing up for Halloween this year.”

He explained the tradition: “They’re iconic, it’s great, I’ll try to revive them next year.” The problem is that these shows are a huge undertaking, we have to get them on tape. As part of what our show has become and what it is right now, we can’t be on tape three days before the election.”

With recent guests including Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris, as well as President Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton and Liz Cheney, Behar agreed there should be no distractions from Election Day on Nov. 5.

“It’s too important,” she said. “I don’t want to be arrogant, but we have a certain influence on people’s thinking. We must use every single minute of this show to inform the public about how dangerous it is [Donald Trump] Is.”

After her ABC News debate with Trump last month, Harris accepted a CNN invitation to a town hall on Oct. 23, following a deadline for both candidates to agree to a presidential debate on the network. The town hall will be broadcast live from the critical swing state of Pennsylvania.

Although Trump previously stated that he would not have a third debate, CNN also suggested an individual town hall for him. He has since agreed to a pre-recorded Fox News town hall focused on issues affecting women that aired Wednesday.
