Former One Direction star Liam Payne was reportedly enjoying his holiday in Buenos Aires when he tragically fell from the third floor of a hotel.

The singer and his influencer boyfriend Kate Cassidy reportedly arrived in Argentina on September 30 and enjoyed the time posting several social media posts together, according to US celebrity website TMZ.

They even attended his former bandmate Niall Horan’s concert. But TMZ reported this evening that Liam was alone at the time of the tragedy.

It said: “We were told she left Argentina on October 14th. Liam stayed behind and checked into the CasaSur Palermo Hotel.”

The website said witnesses described Liam as “behaving erratically in the hotel lobby before the fall” and “broke his laptop, requiring him to be carried back to his room.”

He reportedly fell around 5pm local time while a red police tent was being set up over the body, which was reportedly found in a hotel courtyard.

An hour before the fall, he had posted a picture of himself with wife Cassidy on Snapchat. She had already shared the photo last year on the occasion of his 30th birthday.

A local ambulance manager said: “At 5:04 p.m. we were alerted by the integrated public safety system 911 to a person who was in a management courtyard of a South House Hotel.”

“At 5.11pm a team arrived and confirmed the death of this man. Later we found out that he was a singer in a music group.

“Unfortunately he suffered injuries that were incompatible with life as a result of his fall, so we had to confirm his death, there was no possibility of resuscitation.”

On Monday, October 14, the Daily Mail reported that Liam’s ex-fiancée, Texas model Maya Henry, 23, had filed legal proceedings against him and ordered lawyers to issue him a cease-and-desist letter because he repeatedly attempted to contact him to accommodate her.

Henry spoke out about the alleged harassment on TikTok earlier this week, telling her 650,000 followers: “Since we broke up he’s been texting me saying he’s going to blow up my phone, not just from his phone, it’s always coming from other phone numbers, i.e. mine.” I never know where it comes from.

The couple had an on-again, off-again relationship for three years before calling it quits in 2022, and have been in near-constant conflict since their split.

However, she is said to have spoken of her shock at the news of his death.

Liam’s last Instagram post came just weeks before his untimely death, in which he shared a picture with his ex-bandmates as a nod to Morgan Spurlock, the renowned American documentary filmmaker, author and television producer.

The touching photo showed Liam alongside Morgan, Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik. His caption read: “Rest in peace Morgan Spurlock, it was a pleasure working with you.”

In May 2023, Payne revealed that he had spent time in rehab and had been sober for more than 100 days.

He was also diagnosed with ADHD as an adult. The 31-year-old rose to fame on Britain’s X Factor, where he auditioned for two years before being chosen to join Simon Cowell’s group One Direction.

The band was formed in 2010 with Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson.

After the group went on an indefinite hiatus in 2016, Payne launched his own solo career with singles such as “Strip That Down” and “For You.”

Recently, Payne had been working on new music projects and fans were eagerly awaiting the releases. Devastated fans quickly filled the post with messages of condolence after learning of his sudden death.
