“RIP My Friend”: Fans and friends react to the tragic death of Liam Payne

The world mourns the loss Liam Payne after he reportedly died after falling from a hotel balcony in Argentina. He was just 31 years old.

According to the Associated PressLocal officials in Buenos Aires said the former One Direction singer was found dead on Wednesday (October 16) after falling from the third floor of the Casa Sur Hotel and suffering “extremely serious injuries.” Paramedics confirmed at the scene that he had died.

Pablo PolicicchioSpokesman for the Buenos Aires city security department said police had already been called to the hotel on reports of an “aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.” When they arrived at the scene, they heard a thud and saw Payne in the hotel courtyard.

Following the news of his death, there were numerous tributes to the singer on social media, including at the BRIT Awards and Paris Hiltonwho wrote: “So disturbing to hear the news of @LiamPayne’s passing 😢 Sending love and condolences to his family and loved ones. 🙏 RIP my friend 🥺”

A commenter agrees X (earlier Twitter) said they were “actually speechless” at the news, writing: “I feel like most of us are so shocked by the cause of Liam Payne’s death that the person was once part of something without which we can imagine ourselves as “A 13-year-old could never imagine living.”

Another X user wrote: “Liam Payne was a huge part of my childhood. I’m really shocked. I honestly don’t know what to say, I can’t believe this.”

As of Wednesday afternoon, none of Payne’s 1D colleagues – Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik And Louis Tomlinson – have publicly reacted to the tragic news of their bandmate’s sudden death. Earlier this month, Payne was seen attending Horan’s concert in Argentina, dancing along and chatting with concertgoers.
