Suspected serial burglar arrested after surveillance video leads police to suspect’s home

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A suspected serial burglar was arrested Wednesday after surveillance video led police to the suspect’s home, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.

According to MNPD, officers responded to a commercial burglary alarm on Gallatin Pike at 2:15 a.m. and found a damaged glass door. After an alarm was raised, the suspect was seen fleeing in a gray Toyota Tundra.

According to MNPD, police reviewed surveillance footage and found a possible match to the vehicle, which was registered to a home on Wiley Street. Edgar Easu, 36, was discovered inside the home wearing clothing similar to that seen in surveillance videos.

According to police, the vehicle was still warm.

Easu was previously arrested in 2023 on 37 burglary charges and charges that police say are still pending. He was also arrested and convicted in September 2023 after firing an air pistol at another man and hitting him in the neck.

After a search of Easu’s home on Wednesday, police recovered 13 alcohol bottles believed to have been stolen from shops in the area.

“Easu was charged with attempted burglary and possession of burglary tools. He is now in jail on a $75,000 bond. Additional charges are expected,” MNPD said.
