Man in critical condition after stabbing in San Francisco’s Castro District

A man suffered life-threatening injuries in a knife attack in San Francisco’s Castro District on Wednesday, police said.

Officers called to the intersection of 18th and Collingwood streets found the wounded man around 10:44 a.m., San Francisco Police Department spokeswoman Eve Laokwansathitaya said in a statement.

Paramedics treated him at the scene and transported him to a local hospital in critical condition, Laokwansathitaya said.

The stabbing occurred in the parking lot behind a Walgreens and was witnessed by several people, according to the office of Supervisor Rafael Mandelman, who represents Castro.

As of Wednesday afternoon, no suspects had been identified and no arrests had been made, police said.
