Drivers warned about Flamingo, Koval business access point

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Construction continues at the Flamingo and Koval intersection as a temporary bridge is erected for the Formula One race track.

Officials say businesses in the area are accessible. However, a FOX5 photojournalist was initially denied access to a store there.

“Just to let you know, the road is closed, you won’t be able to get through there,” said a flagman near the intersection.

After the photojournalist explained his title, he was granted entry.

FOX5 video shows construction crews stopping drivers at the access point to area businesses.

FOX5 has contacted the Las Vegas Grand Prix about such interactions.

They say flaggers are out there making sure drivers get to businesses within the intersection and don’t try to go through the ARCO gas station to get onto Flamingo Road.

“We listened to the interaction between your colleague and our flagger and the flagger handled it correctly. “We learned that people were trying to breach ARCO to gain access to Flamingo, so our whistleblowers made sure that your colleague would actually be a customer of ARCO in order to be respectful of this business,” Formula 1 said . “He alerted your colleague that he cannot get through to Flamingo, and your colleague confirmed this and granted access.”
