Man knocked unconscious in New York subway attack – AsAmNews

A man walking down the stairs of a Queens subway station says someone hit him and knocked him unconscious.

Ferdianto Suwandi told ABC7News in New York that he was slapped in the lip. Paramedics took him to nearby Elmhurst Hospital.

“I was walking downstairs and looking at my phone and as I was getting up, I happened to get hit,” Suwandi said.

He told the New York Post the attack lasted almost a minute. His vision was blurred with blood all around him. He also said he had difficulty hearing after the attack.

“I was honestly so shocked,” he said. “I thought, ‘What’s going on? Why is there so much blood?’

“People ask me, ‘Yo, what happened, what happened?’ I said I don’t know what happened, but I just passed out for no reason and the guy got away.”

He suspects he was attacked because he is Asian.

WABC reports that Suwandi is a sushi chef. He expects to be out of work for at least a week while he recovers from his injuries.

The suspect’s description is vague – he was only wearing a pink jacket and jeans.
