Mississippi man convicted of 25 counts of child exploitation

JACKSON, MS – Yesterday, Attorney General Lynn Fitch announced the recent conviction of Jimmie Ray Fields of Lucedale, Mississippi, on 25 counts of child exploitation. This case was investigated by the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office with the assistance of the Lucedale Police Department and prosecuted by the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office and the George County District Attorney’s Office.

“This office is proud to work with law enforcement and prosecutors from across the state to protect Mississippi’s children from predators,” said Attorney General Lynn Fitch. “Together we are making Mississippi a safer place for everyone. If you suspect that a child is being exploited or abused, please report it to my office. Your tip could save a life.”

On October 2, George County Circuit Court Judge Calvin Taylor spoke sentenced Fields to 40 years in prison by the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC), including 40 years in prison for each of 25 counts of child exploitation related to his possession of child sexual abuse materials. It was ordered that all counts be carried out simultaneously. Fields must serve his sentence day by day without the possibility of parole. He will also have to register as a sex offender upon his release.
