Woodstock’s police chief has been sidelined pending a criminal investigation

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Woodstock’s police chief has been sidelined amid a criminal investigation by the Vermont State Police.

Vermont State Police said city officials requested an investigation into Chief Joe Swanson on Monday.

VSP officials said in a statement that just because an investigation involves a specific individual does not necessarily mean that person is the target of the investigation.

Woodstock officials did not respond to calls for comment.
