One person is dead and another is seriously injured after a crash in Jefferson County, officials report

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Jefferson County on Wednesday, officials reported.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to CTH U in the town of Cold Spring just after 10:30 a.m.

Officials said a preliminary investigation revealed a vehicle was traveling eastbound when it crossed the center line and struck a westbound vehicle. A single person was in each vehicle, authorities determined.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle died at the scene. The westbound driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Whitewater police and firefighters, the Fort Atkinson Fire Department and the Jefferson County Coroner assisted at the scene.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident.
