Tragic lightning strike in Jashpur: One woman dead, three others injured | Raipur News

Raipur: A woman was killed and three others, including a teenager, sustained serious injuries Lightning strike as they harvested rice in a field in Ulkiya village Jashpur on Tuesday evening.
According to police, the deceased was identified as a 45-year-old Manita Toppo. The injured include Dalbir Toppo (44), Anju Toppo (15) and Amod Kindo (23), all of whom sustained critical injuries and were rushed to Pathalgaon Civil Hospital for treatment.
The incident took place when the group from Barbahala Para in Ulkiya Gram Panchayat had gone to their field to harvest paddy due to impending bad weather. While they were working, a sudden downpour was followed by a lightning strike that struck four people. Manita Toppo died at the scene while the others suffered severe burns.
Neighbors quickly took the injured to the hospital in a private vehicle. Doctors confirmed Manita’s death upon arrival, while the other three are currently receiving treatment.
