Man held without bail in connection with deadly Waterville shooting

WATERVILLE, Maine (WABI) – A Clinton man charged with murder appeared in court for the first time.

Richard Hatt, 53, is charged in connection with a fatal shooting in Waterville on Oct. 15.

Around 6:30 a.m., authorities were called to the parking lot of the Mount Joseph at Waterville nursing facility.

There were reports of multiple gunshots.

When they arrived, police found 47-year-old Stephen Killam of Fairfield dead in a car.

Policy said Killam and Hatt were known to each other.

The judge ordered Hatt held without bail pending a hearing that has not yet been scheduled.
