Tragic electrocution: 20-year-old man killed by electric cable in Kancheepuram |

Chennai: A 20-year-old man was electrocuted when he stepped on a broken overhead wire Kancheepuram on Tuesday evening.
The deceased was identified as Dileep Kumara resident of Pallavar Medu. He worked in a shop in Kancheepuram Flower market.
The accident occurred when he was walking to the flower shop where he worked. He accidentally stepped on an electric cable that broke due to the heavy rain and wind. Dileep Kumar, who did not realize that the cable was submerged in a pool of water, died on the spot.
Sivakanchi police recovered the body. The body was handed over to his parents postmortem.
After an inquiry by the Tahsildar of Kancheepuram, the Tamil Nadu government provided Rs 4 lakh as relief to his parents. Handloom and Textiles Minister R. Gandhi handed over the check to the parents.
