Greenville man faces multiple charges of sexual abuse of a child

PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A Greenville man is in jail on $2 million bond after officials said he abusively touched a child who was eight or nine years old.

Joel Palma-Duarte is charged with four counts of sexual assault of a child by an adult and one count of indecent liberties with a child.

Pitt County deputies say they began their investigation on June 12. They say the victim is now 12 years old.

Palma-Duarte, 27, turned himself into the Pitt County Detention Center today.
