Morris Chestnut CBS drama “Watson” will premiere after the AFC championship game

The upcoming CBS medical crime series “Watson,” starring Morris Chestnut, has set its premiere date.

The show will premiere after the AFC Championship Game on January 26, 2025 at approximately 10:00 p.m. ET, depending on when the game and post-game coverage ends. It airs on CBS and is available to stream on Paramount+. “Watson” will air in its regular Sunday time slot beginning February 16 at 10 p.m. ET.

As previously announced, Chestnut will become Dr. Play John Watson, the companion of the legendary detective Sherlock Holmes. According to the series’ official logline, the series “takes place six months after the death of the title character’s friend and partner, Sherlock Holmes, at the hands of Moriarty. The series stars Morris Chestnut as Dr. John Watson continues his medical career as head of a rare disease clinic. But Watson’s old life doesn’t end with him – Moriarty and Watson will write their own chapter in a story that has captivated audiences for more than a century.”

In addition to Chestnut, the series also stars Eve Harlow, Peter Mark Kendall, Ritchie Coster, Inga Schlingmann and Rochelle Aytes.

Craig Sweeny wrote the first episode and serves as showrunner and executive producer. In addition to starring, Chestnut also serves as an executive producer. Sallie Patrick, Larry Teng, Shaeron Moalem MD, PhD, Aaron Kaplan of Kapital Entertainment; and Brian Morewitz also executive produce. Teng directed the first two episodes. CBS Studios is producing, while the series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
