Danville man sentenced to life in prison for predatory sexual assault of a child

A Danville man has been sentenced to life in prison for six counts of predatory sexual assault of a child.

Robert Musson, 59, was found guilty of six counts of predatory sexual assault of a child following a jury trial that ended August 14, 2024.

During the trial, People presented evidence that Danville police received reports of two underage victims who were sexually abused by Robert Musson at different times between 2016 and 2020.

The Vermilion County Child Advocacy Center and the Peoria Child Advocacy Center assisted the Danville Police Department with the investigation and interviews.

During the trial, the minor victims provided compelling testimony about the abuse they suffered between 2016 and 2020.

The victim described that after she told a family member about the abuse following one of the incidents, Musson told her he was “sorry.”

The victim’s mother stated, “As the children grew up, I tried to protect them from monsters, not knowing that the biggest monster lived under one roof.” The victim’s father thanked members of the Vermilion County Child Advocacy Center, the Danville Police Department Investigation Division and the Vermilion County Prosecutor’s Office for always making the victim “feel protected and loved.”
