Tavares couple found dead in house; Possible carbon monoxide poisoning, officials say

On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, Tavares Police Department officers responded to a wellness check at a home in the Tiki Village Mobile Park.

The complaint said the couple had not been seen since Hurricane Milton made landfall on Oct. 9.

The couple, a 67-year-old man, Perry Leintz, and an 85-year-old woman, Constance Albrecht, were found dead in the home.

After speaking with neighbors, officers learned that the couple had lost power and were using a generator located in their shed attached to the home.

According to officials, both exhibited signs that suggested possible carbon monoxide poisoning.

However, a cause of death cannot be confirmed until the medical examiner’s office completes its autopsies, which could take several weeks.

This case is still under investigation. We will provide updates as we learn more.
