Jorgensen is set to undergo a scan in London following injury concerns with the Denmark Under-21 team

Filip Jorgensen will reportedly be examined upon his return to London after being substituted in Denmark U21’s game against Iceland U21 on Tuesday.

Jorgensen joined Chelsea this summer in a deal worth £20.7m from Spanish club Villarreal, signing a seven-year contract. Paul Winstanley recently explained why the club is offering long-term contracts.

The 22-year-old has played four games for the Blues, but his minutes have so far been limited to the Carabao Cup and Conference League.

Jorgensen needs to be assessed after his substitution with the Denmark U21s

Jorgensen will have to bide his time and wait patiently for his chance in the Premier League and it appears his only chance at the moment is either an injury to Sanchez or a prolonged lack of form from the Spaniard.

The goalkeeper recently announced that he decided to move to Chelsea because of the project and that he wants to win titles this season.

Jorgensen’s next appearance is expected to be the Conference League game against Greek club Panathinaikos on October 24, but that could be in doubt as he was substituted in Denmark U21’s 2-0 win against Iceland U21.

Journalist Kieran Gill has provided an update on the situation and reported that Jorgensen will be investigated upon his return to London.

He went to X.com and said:

“Filip Jorgensen had to be substituted injured after a collision with the Danish U21 team this evening. A friend who works for a Danish publication subsequently spoke to the manager and learned that he had substituted Chelsea’s goalkeeper as a precaution. Will be assessed in London upon return but hopefully OK.”

Jorgensen was obviously signed with the future in mind, but the goalkeeping situation at Chelsea is complicated, with Djordje Petrovic impressing last season and currently on loan at Strasbourg.

While Jorgensen can safely be expected to still be at the club next season, it is likely that one of Petrovic or Sanchez will have to leave next summer.
