19-year-old arrested after shooting in Portland that left a teenager critically injured

PORTLAND (WGME) – A 19-year-old has been charged with attempted murder after police say he shot and killed a 17-year-old in Portland on Tuesday.

Police said they responded to 1390 Forest Avenue around 2:20 a.m. for a report of shots fired.

When police arrived, they found a 17-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound.

The teen was taken to Maine Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said they arrested the suspect, 19-year-old Dominic Moncada-Sanchez of Portland, in South Portland.

Moncada-Sanchez was charged with aggravated attempted murder, aggravated assault and violating prison conditions.

The suspect was taken to the Cumberland County Jail.

Details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting have not yet been released.
