The Marion County Sheriff’s Department receives its third report of shots fired from a car over the weekend

The Marion County Sheriff’s Department received a third report of a shooting incident over the weekend, with at least two of the incidents involving vehicles.

The third report was made Monday and involved an incident in the 5800 block of State Route 37 south of Brubaker Road around 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning. A resident heard eight shots fired from a vehicle that later turned around in the neighbor’s driveway.

As in the other two cases, a description of the vehicle could not be obtained and officers did not find anything suspicious during their patrols in the area.

The earlier reports came at 9:52 a.m. Sunday evening from the 7300 block of Malone Road in rural Alma, where a single shot was reportedly fired as a car stopped near their driveway before heading north at a high rate of speed. The first reported incident occurred at 1:40 a.m. Saturday morning to a resident in the 4900 block of Brubaker Road in rural Salem, where what sounded like six gunshots was heard outside the caller’s home.
