One dead in car crash overnight in Linn County

LINN COUNTY, Iowa – One person is dead in a crash at Covington Road and Chain Bridge Road just after 2 a.m. Wednesday morning in Linn County.

Authorities determined a vehicle was traveling south on Covington Road when it entered the west ditch, rolled over and caught fire.

The driver, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny for an autopsy.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the cause of the accident.
