MAN FROM BOLIVAR GETS 10-20 YEARS FOR SEXUAL ATTACK ON A GIRL

A Bolivar man was handed a prison sentence of 10 to 20 years yesterday for repeatedly sexually abusing a girl.

Jerry Boring, 60, was convicted by a Westmoreland County jury in April of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault in connection with incidents that began in 2017 when the victim was 10 years old. He denied the allegations during the trial and had to be overpowered shortly before the verdict was read when he tried to throw himself out of the second floor window of the courthouse.

District Judge Meghan Billik-Defazio ordered Boring to serve a mandatory prison sentence, while prosecutors had argued for consecutive sentences, meaning he would have spent at least 15 years in prison. He was also ordered to register as a convicted sex offender for the rest of his life.
