Salifu Amoako has been arrested over an accident that left two people dead

Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako was arrested by the police

Ghana Police announced that they have arrested the founder and leader of Alive Chapel International, Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako, after his son reportedly caused an accident in East Legon on Saturday, October 12, 2024, in which two people were killed.

According to police, the child’s mother, Mouha Amoako, was also arrested.

In a statement posted on social media on Tuesday, October 15, police said: “The parents of the 16-year-old suspected driver, Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako and Mouha Amoako, are currently in custody and assisting with the investigation.”

Disclosing information they had gathered since the incident, the police said in their statement: “Investigations so far have revealed that the suspected driver, Elrad Salifu Amoako, 16 years old, was driving a Jaguar SUV vehicle on October 12, 2024 with license plate GN 7801-20.” with one other occupant rammed into a 4×4 Acura vehicle, also with license plate GR 2542-23, driven by Joseph Ackah with four other occupants, on Mensah Wood Street, East Legon. Both cars caught fire and burned beyond recognition.

“The investigation further shows that three of the five victims in the Acura vehicle were rescued during the accident and the other two identified Justine Agbenu and Maame Dwomoh, both 12 years old, lost their lives. Two of the rescued victims suffered minor injuries and were treated and released, while the third remains hospitalized and receiving medical attention.”

“The suspect driver and the other occupant in the Juaguar vehicle were also rescued and are currently hospitalized,” it said.

Due to the unfortunate incident, according to the statement, the police “visited the bereaved family to express condolences and also visited the injured in the hospital.”

This visit was carried out on October 15, 2024 by “a team from the Police Board led by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare”.
