Randy Wiggins was found guilty of manslaughter in the 2021 killing of Kevin Smith. The verdict was announced in Georgetown High Court before Judge Jo’ann Barlow.

Wiggins, initially charged with murder, saw the charge reduced to manslaughter after a jury found him not guilty of the murder charge, but found him guilty of the lesser offense by a 10-2 verdict.

The incident occurred on May 8, 2021 at “C” Field, Sophia, when an altercation between Wiggins and Smith escalated, resulting in Wiggins stabbing Smith three times – in the chest, lower abdomen and above his left knee. Smith later died from his injuries.

Testimony at the trial included statements from Wiggins’ former girlfriend, a cousin of Smith, and pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh, who conducted the post-mortem. Dr. Singh testified that two of the stab wounds were fatal, one causing the collapse of Smith’s right lung while another caused 8 inches of his intestines to protrude.

Wiggins is scheduled to be sentenced on November 6th.
