Grey’s Anatomy star Sarah Drew says she was “mean and unfairly” fired from the show

A former oneGrey’s Anatomy Star has reflected on being axed from the show, calling the way it was handled “mean and unfair.”

Sarah Drew first appeared in the fifth season of the long-running medical series as Dr. April Kepner appeared, and just as her co-star Eric Dane was suddenly dropped from the series, her contract was not renewed as season 14 was being prepared.

Drew has now spoken out against her departure, it is said Call it like it is podcast that she was “unceremoniously fired in a way that felt mean and unfair, and because of that the outpouring of love was so enormous that it was like sitting there and people watching.” [eulogise you].”

The actress addressed her fans about the development when her exit was first reported deadline. She wrote on X/Twitter: “I know you’re sad. I’m sad too. I didn’t really have the time to process this information.

“I’ve only been here for less than 48 hours, so I’m not ready to say thank you and make a full statement about my nine years here.”

Three seasons later, Drew briefly returned to the show and explained her decision to accept the gig to the podcast hosts, her former co-stars Jessica Capshaw and Camilla Luddington: “I have no attachment to it [the show] at all. I wasn’t afraid. I don’t need anything from anyone on set anymore. You are no longer responsible for my livelihood. They’re not responsible for my success or my happiness… I think, ‘Hey, this is a great place to visit.'”

Elsewhere in the interview, Drew revealed that her character had a one-night stand with Dr. Dane’s Mark Sloan, known to fans as McSteamy – the best friend and love rival of Patrick Dempsey’s Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd.

She told the podcast: “Before they made my character love Jesus and a virgin, there was a scene that Sloan and Reed were in [Nora Zehetner] Having sex, a random one night stand. That was originally supposed to be me. It should be April.

“April was supposed to have some kind of one-off with Sloan, and that was in the original production draft [of the script]and then they changed it. I had nothing to do with it, but then they changed their mind.”

In June, Dane announced he was “probably fired.” Grey’s Anatomywith the statement: “I didn’t leave, but rather I was fired.”

Grey’s Anatomy is currently airing its 21st season.
