Harrison Ford has made it clear that he has no fondness for his past fashion choices, especially when it comes to an infamous ’80s outfit.

The actor currently stars in Apple TV+ shrinkage as Dr. Paul Rhoades sat down for an interview with him GQ, There he was confronted with his iconic blue shorts and sweater combination, which he wore at the 1982 Cannes Film Festival.

At age 82, Ford admitted that he had indeed seen the photo, but made it clear that he is not a fan of his past style choices. When asked if he appreciated his look back then, he simply replied, “I’ve grown out of it.” He also humorously recounted the story behind his famous earring, recalling a lunch with Jimmy Buffett and Ed Bradley as the source of his fashion talent.

The Jurassic Park Graduate may reflect critically on his past fashion choices, but when it comes to his career, Ford has clear criteria for selecting projects and emphasizes the importance of quality writing. “It doesn’t matter what genre it is…it’s the writing, it’s the story, it’s the character, it’s the emotional experience,” he explained to the outlet. Maybe he didn’t have that in mind when he took the chance and auditioned for the role of Han Solo star Wars Back in 1972 – the film that catapulted him to fame – but it certainly set the stage for a career defined more by iconic roles than questionable wardrobe choices.
