HC Lincoln Riley’s backup plan comes to fruition when USC falls victim to Anthony Lucas’ tragic injury

Lincoln Riley has a lot to do at the moment. His USC Trojans have already struggled with their performance this season, and now they’re dealing with some serious lineup issues. Star defenseman Anthony Lucas suffered a leg injury in the game against Minnesota two weeks ago, and with him out, the Trojans are looking for a replacement. There was some hope that Lucas would return soon, but recent updates suggest otherwise. Riley has even started dropping names of possible successors to Lucas.

Despite his injury, Lucas was spotted playing in a few games for the Trojans in their last game against Penn State. But now Anthony will be out for the rest of the season as he undergoes surgery. In a clip released by USCAthletics on October 15, head coach Lincoln Riley confirmed the news, saying: “We lost Anthony for the season. Yes, Anthony had to have surgery on his leg this morning, so we won’t have him again this year.” Now Riley is having a hard time finding someone to take his place.

The Trojans HC then also mentioned who could potentially fit in with the team in the upcoming games following Anthony’s departure from the squad. “Well, I mean, there’s a handful of guys that we’ve already played with on the sidelines that are going to get opportunities, and possibly more opportunities, and then we’ll definitely look at some of the young guys Kam fountain, [Lorenzo] Cowan who worked behind the scenes,” he said. Let’s see whether Lincoln Riley’s selection of players can successfully replace Lucas or not.

However, it is certainly a tough blow for USC to lose Anthony Lucas, who has been an important contributor this season. He is their preferred edge rusher, playing 231 defensive snaps and making 16 tackles. Hopefully he’ll be back at full strength next year. In the meantime, we’ll see how the Trojans fare without him, and we’ll rely on their HC’s optimism to do so.

Lincoln Riley supports his team

The USC Trojans are not doing well this season under head coach Lincoln Riley. Their most recent loss to Penn State gave them a streak of 3 wins and 3 losses in this game. That’s pretty surprising! During his time at Oklahoma, Riley never lost more than two games in a single season. That’s a bit worrying. However, his team’s poor performance this season doesn’t seem to bother Lincoln Riley much.

After last week’s defeat, Riley stressed that he believes there is still no need to panic as they know where they stand. “Nothing changes for me now. Hell no. We don’t do that. We believe in what we do. We believe in what we are building,” said the Trojan HC. He even stood by and supported his team when they were trolled by fans and critics, saying: “We know we have a good football team. We don’t need other people’s opinions or thoughts. We know we have a good team.”

Riley seems to prefer a positive approach, focusing on motivation rather than criticism. Now we will see if this “optimistic strategy” pays off, especially if a key defensive player is out due to injury.
