Tragic drowning of siblings in Bhubaneswar pond while attending festival | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: A 14-year-old girl and her 8-year-old brother drowned while bathing in a pond Subhalo village under Balianta Police Station boundaries here on Tuesday. The deceased were Subhasree Jena and her brother Bhagirathi from Koradakanta village. The siblings visited their uncle’s house in Balianta for Dusshera.
According to sources, Bhagirathi first slipped on the pond steps and fell into the water, following which his sister jumped in to save her brother. But she drowned with him.
The villagers searched in the pond water for an hour before fishing out the bodies.
Police have registered an unnatural death case in connection with the incident.TNN
