Mexico’s Raul Jimenez takes a free kick to open the USMNT game – NBC Los Angeles

The men’s national team duel between Mexico and the USA is no stranger to great goals.

The final goal came from Mexican striker Raul Jimenez, who gave El Tri an early lead over the USA with an impressive free kick.

In the 22nd minute of their October friendly, Jimenez fired the ball into the top right corner, past the outstretched hands of Matt Turner.

The 33-year-old Jimenez is a mainstay for El Tri despite his shaky form following a serious head injury.

Mexico dominated the first game against the USA as Mauricio Pochettino’s team did not fire a single shot for more than 40 minutes of play.

However, Pochettino’s side were without several key players including Christian Pulisic, Folarin Balogun, Weston McKennie and more. All either battled injuries or returned to their respective clubs to deal with the stress, as was the case with Pulisic and AC Milan.

Jimenez has been in good form for Premier League club Fulham, scoring three goals and assisting one in seven appearances.

Cristo Fernández, known for his role as Dani Rojas in the hit series “Ted Lasso”, shares how the series fueled his passion for football.
