Suspect charged with murder of woman found dead in Manoa drain

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – An Oahu grand jury has indicted a man on second-degree murder charges in the slaying of a woman whose body was found in a Manoa sewer last month.

Gibran Copeland is accused of shooting 50-year-old Christina Baca multiple times.

Baca’s body was found in a storm drain in Manoa.

Copeland and Baca had a close relationship and there had been previous incidents of domestic violence between them.

Copeland is being held at OCCC without bail.
