Centralia police are investigating shots fired at the home on North Elm Street

Centralia police are investigating an incident early Sunday morning in which shots were fired at a residence in the 400 block of North Elm Street.

Officers contacted residents after responding to a call of shots fired and quickly determined the apartment had several holes in it that appeared to be the result of gunfire. There were no injuries.

Gun shell casings were found on the road. According to police, it is unclear whether the shots were fired from the street or a passing vehicle.

After the crime scene was secured, the Illinois State Criminal Investigation Division was contacted.

Centralia Police officers searched the area for possible video footage and witnesses to the incident. This incident is still under investigation.
