Police said a suspected robber hit a 24-year-old man in the head with a glass bottle when he refused to hand over cash.

The stranger approached the victim about 9 a.m. Monday a block from his home on Ditmas Avenue near East 2nd Street in Kensington and asked him for money, authorities and sources said.

When the victim didn’t spit anything out, the suspect became violent and hit him in the head with the bottle, police said.

As a result of the blow, the victim suffered a cut to the head and was taken to Maimonides Medical Center, where his condition was stable.

The robber, seen walking on the sidewalk in surveillance footage, fled empty-handed and had not been caught as of Tuesday.
