A man and woman died after shots were fired at a Prescott home early Tuesday

PRESCOTT, AZ – A man and woman at a Prescott residence are dead after being shot Tuesday morning.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office said officers were called to a home near Iron Springs and Williamson Valley roads early Tuesday.

Deputies say the man and woman have had conflicts in the past and have been “subjects of multiple ongoing domestic violence investigations.”

Initial findings from the investigation show that the man may have shot his estranged wife as she tried to escape the house.

According to officials, a YCSO reserve deputy who lives nearby intervened and fired his weapon to stop the man.

Both the man and the woman died from their injuries. It is unclear whether the reserve deputy suffered any injuries.

YCSO officials have asked the Department of Public Safety to oversee the investigation.

It is not known what led to the shooting or whether one of the reserve deputy’s shots hit the man or woman.
