Police release the identities of the Waterbury shooting victims

WATERBURY, Vt. (WCAX) – Police have released the names of the victims of a shooting in Waterbury that left one man dead and the other seriously injured.

According to Vermont State Police, Shawn Spiker, 34, of Croydon, New Hampshire, was killed in the shooting early Monday morning at the Kneeland Flats Trailer Park. They say he died from multiple gunshot wounds and it was a homicide.

Officers identified the man who survived as Michael Perry, 36, of Barre City, who they said is in stable condition at UVM Medical Center in Burlington.

Investigators said they completed examining the crime scene Tuesday and are still interviewing people.

Nobody is in custody.

Police said Monday that other people were involved in the incident and that it was not an argument between Spiker and Perry. They say the men were acquaintances.

“What we know about the investigation leads us to believe that this is an isolated incident and not a random incident at a mobile home park,” said Vt. Maj. Dan Trudeau. State Police, on Monday.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Berlin State Police at 802-229-9191 or leave an anonymous tip online.
