Las Vegas casino stabbing suspect pleads guilty to attempted murder

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A suspect charged in a brutal knife attack at Red Rock Resort pleaded guilty to attempted murder.

According to court officials, Shayne Sussman has entered an Alford plea. This means Sussman knows prosecutors may have enough evidence to convict him, but he doesn’t admit guilt.

Eleven charges were filed against Sussman. Three of them were attempted murder, the others were assault with the use of a deadly weapon.

According to police, he stabbed and critically injured two Red Rock Casino employees in the early morning hours of Saturday, August 3rd.

“I think I heard either fireworks or a gunshot at Red Rock Casino,” said an anonymous caller whose name has been redacted.

In the 911 calls obtained by FOX5, several callers could be heard reporting shots fired to Las Vegas police.

Before the shooting, security said Sussman attempted to enter a closed restaurant and appeared to be “under the influence of alcohol.”

Police said the stabbing was “unprovoked.” Sussman’s sentencing is scheduled for November 26 at 8:30 a.m
